Sail the Nile on a boat
we've actually
been on

Every ship on this site is one our founder Maro has sailed or inspected himself — chosen for the Aswan–Luxor route, not pulled off a wholesaler's list. We're Egypt Planners, and we've spent 13+ years putting travellers on the right boat.

When to sail

Five seasons on the Nile — and what each one's really like

The Nile sails year-round, but the experience changes with the season. Here's how each one actually feels — so you can match your trip to the weather, the crowds, and the mood you're after. For exact pricing on your dates, just ask Maro.

🌿
Low Season
May–August
Hot, quiet, and cheapest. Early starts beat the afternoon heat, and the temples are at their emptiest. Best for travellers who don't mind the sun and want the river to themselves.
❄️
High Season
September–April
The classic window. Warm days, cool evenings, and the most comfortable sightseeing weather of the year. This is when most travellers come — book ahead.
🌷
Easter Week
A short, lively peak around Easter. Beautiful weather and a festive feeling on board — and busier sites, so plan early.
🎄
Christmas
Dec 21 – Jan 5
Egypt at its most festive. Perfect winter weather, holiday atmosphere on the boats, and high demand — the season that books out first.
Peak Christmas
Dec 27 – Jan 1
The busiest few days of the year on the river. Spectacular, celebratory, and worth booking months ahead if these are your dates.

Prices shift with the season, the boat, and your dates — so we quote them properly rather than print a number that won't fit your trip. Tell Maro your dates and he'll give you the real figure.

Egypt specialists
Why Aboard With Us

Specialists, not aggregators

  • 01

    We've been on the boats

Maro personally sails or inspects the ships we list. The notes you read come from being on board — which cabins to ask for, which decks to avoid — not from a brochure.

  • 02

    Egyptologist guides on board

Our trips include certified Egyptologist guides who bring 5,000 years of history to life with real knowledge — the same guides Egypt Planners has used for years.

  • 03

Real details, or none at all

Cabin counts, decks, build years — if a figure isn't confirmed from a trustworthy source, we leave it off rather than guess. No filler specs, no fake star ratings.

  • 04

One Cairo team, start to finish

From your first WhatsApp to the moment you disembark, you deal with our Egypt-based team directly — not a call centre, not a reseller.

Travel Stories

From those who sailed with us

"The most magical week of our lives. Watching the sun rise over Karnak from our balcony on the Soleil — there are no words. The team thought of everything, from anniversary champagne in the cabin to a private dinner on the sun deck on our last night. Hassan, our Egyptologist guide, brought 4000 years of history to life with stories rather than lectures."

"We've cruised the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Mekong. Nothing comes close to the Nile aboard the Soleil. The Egyptologist guide, the dining, the temple visits — everything operated at a level we didn't expect on a river cruise. Already planning our return for the 7-night round trip."

"As a solo traveler, I was nervous about a cruise. Aswan Luxor Cruises and the Soleil team made me feel taken care of every single day. The Egyptologist became a friend by Day 2. The pool deck at sunset was the most peaceful moment of my year."

Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions, answered

Everything you need to know before sailing the Nile — from booking to boarding, and every wonder in between.

The Nile cruise season runs year-round, but each period offers a distinct experience:

  • October to April — Most pleasant weather. Warm days (20–30°C), cool evenings; perfect for temple sightseeing.
  • December and January — Peak months, especially around Christmas and New Year. Festive atmosphere, fully-booked ships.
  • March and April — Excellent weather, fewer crowds than December.
  • May to September — Hot summer months (35–42°C). Lower prices, quieter ships.

Most travelers prefer the November–March window for the ideal balance of weather, atmosphere and value.

Absolutely. Most ships offer dedicated solo rates. The atmosphere onboard is welcoming with shared dining tables and onboard activities — many solo travelers tell us they made lifelong friends.

Both work — Aswan to Luxor is downstream (gentler pace, more time at temples). Luxor to Aswan is upstream (more time in Luxor for Karnak/Valley of the Kings before sailing).
